Corporate Philosophy

How should enterprises conduct themselves in the dawning years of the 21st century? Has the all-out pursuit of convenience and efficiency resulted in real happiness?

At WIP Japan, we consider all corporate actions to comprise a "culture". It is no exaggeration to say that economic activities dictate the future of mankind, and we endeavor to be an enterprise that views society and economy as a whole, and makes a genuine contribution to human happiness.

Ever since WIP Japan was founded, we have made it our duty to provide concrete support to the fight against hunger, and the resolution of environmental and educational problems. In the hope that translations and surveys concerning such problems will serve to bring them closer to the Japanese people, deepening their understanding of the world beyond Japan's shores and fostering the same compassion for victims of tragedy wherever they are located, we have undertaken such translations and surveys at discount rates, and endeavored in other ways too to do what we can through our everyday business to contribute to the betterment of the world.

Out of a desire to make a more direct contribution to solving the problems of the world, we have also from our first year donated 10% of WIP Japan's operating profits (3% of sales for the first three years) to community projects being carried out in the world's poorest countries, and we continue to seek other ways of corporate giving.

We see cause to question not only profit-above-everything style of management, but also such conventional justifications for doing business as contributing to the local community, or creating jobs. With "rediscover our humanity" and "rebuild the rules" as our mottos, we shall continue in our endeavors to become a business for the 21st century, one that makes a genuine contribution to the happiness of mankind.

We hope that you will continue to take an interest in how WIP Japan performs in this endeavor.
