WIP Group Profile

A Message from WIP Group Representative UEDA Teruhiko
We seek to do all in our powers to provide as many of the world's people as possible with an accurate picture of Japan, a nation often regarded as inscrutable, while at the same time informing the Japanese people about the world beyond its shores, and contributing to the cultivation of mutual understanding and friendship.
Japan has various problems of its own, but there are many other countries facing far more basic and serious predicaments. I feel that each and every country can make a unique contribution to the resolution of such problems, and that in addition to the prevailing Western approach, other approaches and cultures also hold out equally valid possibilities. It is my hope that the WIP Group too can play a role through its everyday business.
For people from different backgrounds to develop mutual understanding and friendship requires that they overcome barriers both in language and in consciousness. Regional differences in opinion and culture exist even in Japan. In fact in the past different languages were also spoken within Japan, and physical distances too were immense, travel between Tokyo and Osaka taking longer than it does between any two countries throughout the world in the present age with its developed transport capabilities.
In our line of business too, everything boils down to overcoming barriers in both language and consciousness, and we hope to be able to show through our work that these barriers are far from being unassailable. I feel that nothing could be more important in the present age than for the people of Japan and the rest of the world to overcome these barriers to become truly global individuals who contribute to the good of the world through their respective work. I would be happy if the WIP Group was able to play a role, however minor, in making this world a better place.
